Data Warehouse Services

The data warehouse focuses on gathering data from source content areas and then storing the data in a useful way for later consumption. A data warehouse is usually split up into three focus areas:

• Data staging area - This area is where data from operational systems or other content providers is stored.
• Translation and integration area - This area is where data is transformed, aggregated, and enhanced to be most useful for later consumption.
• Information access area - This area is used for getting information out of the data warehouse for presentation or other uses.

The data contained in the data warehouse presentation tables is organized for decision support purposes and is often published out to specific data marts that are directly accessed with reporting and other business intelligence tools.
