The era of powerful mobile devices with high quality photographic capabilities created an opportunity to take advantage of this rapid evolution in technology to facilitate simpler sharing of data and images between chiefs, residents, and nurses as well as between physicians and patients.
Our client needed mobile apps that could send messages and images securely. HipaaCat (HC) had three versions – Chief, Resident, and Nurse – and was for communication between chiefs, residents, and nurses including service groups. My Doctor Note (MDN) had two versions – Physician and Patient – and was for communications between physicians and patients. The information and messages transmitted needed to be stored in a central repository and all communication along with the hosted database had to conform to HIPAA security requirements.
SD3 created a central repository to save images and messages in a secure environment. Mobile devices communicated locally captured images and messages and kept them until they were able to connect to the central repository. Communication to the devices was done using state-of-the-art, lightning fast web services and Push Notifications. In addition, a web interface allowed physicians to view and print their messages and images.
On the device side, SD3 built the custom mobile apps on both iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android (phones and tablets) platforms.
All users were able to securely send and receive images and/or messages. This required creation of a custom camera application to keep images off the “camera roll” for security and yet still gave full control of image details. “In-App Billing” was implemented to renew paid licensing annually with minimal effort to the licensee and licensor.
More efficient communication and ease of sharing messages and/or images between physicians and patients (MDN), and chiefs, residents, and nurses (HC) was achieved. In addition, efficient and easy interaction similar to email was created, but HIPAA compliant and secure. Technology independent web services enabled seamless interaction between iPhone/iPad and Android devices.
Java, Objective C, RESTful Web services, JSON, ASP.NET, C#, MS SQL, Stored Procedures, Integration Services, JavaScript, Android C2DM (Cloud To Device Messaging), and iOS APNS (Apple Push Notification Service)
Bringing together multiple relevant software platforms, SD3 created an app that streamlines workflow assessment in real-time. Team members in the field can communicate smoothly with home office, each one in sync with work orders, updates and more.
