Imagine an iPad application (app) for window fashion professionals that would contain their entire catalog of window treatments in the palm of their hand. Our client did, and they engaged SD3 to architect and develop an iPad app and centralized image library management solution for their entire team.
Instead of carrying several large physical sample books into their customer's home, the professionals would use the new Sample Book iPad app to impress their customers with a state of the art shopping experience. The iPad app would replace the large sample books that the window treatment professional would store in their car and carry into the customer's home. The app would be distributed on Apples App Store allowing all users to shop by browsing through the swatches and photo galleries, but orders for swatches could only be placed by registered users. After shopping and selecting samples, the app would enable the user to submit sample orders in real-time right from the customer's home. The app contains over 1,500 high resolution images portraying an exact representation of the products offered including patterns and texture.
Product families and images change over time so a sophisticated central image repository and website was required to manage the image library. Also, an image synchronization process was needed so changes could automatically be synchronized with all of the iPad apps being used in the field.
SD3 worked closely with our client to understand their business and application objectives. Then we architected, designed, and developed, the iPad app and central server image repository. Custom electronic messages were developed to synchronize image changes on the server with the iPads over the wireless network. Additional screens, messages, and processing were developed to handle security, order samples, and track order status.
With over 700 downloads and a very positive app rating, Sample Book hit a home run with window treatment professionals. The app is making a significant difference in the sales process and contributing to increased sales, customer satisfaction, and sales process efficiencies.

A hospital system that relies on communication of critical and highly private patient information needed a safe way to do so electronically. The forward-thinkers at SD3 developed an app enabling chiefs, residents and nurses to securely send and receive images and/or messages. This required creation of a custom camera application to keep images off the “camera roll” for security and yet still gave full control of image details.
